Characteristics of growing orchids

This blog is about the characteristics of the orchid growth. The growth of orchid is categorized by 2 types.

1. The growth via the peak foliage (Monopodium). The orchid of this type, the trunk will grow in length. During growing, there is the root which rooted out from the side of its leave. When times goes by, the stem part will dry dead because of aging. So, breeding the orchids of this type must use the method of truncating the peak which rooted out. Then there will be new shoots budding from the eye on the conside of trunk. Sometimes, there will be 2 shoots. Bouquet of this shoot will come out next to the trunk around the top of the leave. Orchids of this type are such as Rhynchostylis, Vanda, Mokara, Ascocentrum, Phalaenopsis, Aracknis.
2. The growth via budding: for this type of growth, the trunk (Rhizome) of orchid prostrate to the soil surface or planter. The part of rhizome is articulate. Each articulate has 2 eyes. The budding is from the eye. The budding develop into trunk. Then, the process is reiterate. Orchid of this type are such as Dendrobium, Cattleya, paphiopedilum, Oncidium.

Growing Orchids Outdoor

if you do not live in Florida that the orchids outdoor all the year round, you must take care in growing orchids. the thing is that you can only grow the orchids for at least part of the year, so be cautious to act in a conservative manner. Since orchids like warm climate. In the spring, wait until warm weather is assured(night temperature not lower than 50 Farenheit degrees). it is important to protect your orchids from a sudden cold snap. Orchids become conditioned to their environments. Hence be vary of the radically different conditions of the outdoors. Unfortunately, with orchids unsightly burned areas do not necessary to peel or fall off, and they can drastically reduce photosynthesizing capacity.
